Dear Friends,

It looks as though the Town of Seneca Falls is playing the same cat and mouse game with all things solid waste/landfill related that the county has done. It feels like they are trying to dissuade public participation and wear us down by moving dates and locations, and it is happening again.

At a regular Town Board meeting scheduled for tomorrow, December 3rd, the Town Board of Seneca Falls was to revisit whether or not to grant the landfill a local operating permit. We learned that this vote will be set instead for a special meeting on January 21st at 6:00 pm in the Community Center 35 Water Street Seneca Falls, NY.

In the meantime, we encourage you to show up and speak at the December 3rd meeting if you can, and put the January 21st date on your calendar now.

Please continue to report any landfill odor every single time- here is the hotline number and an affidavit to complete for each instance.

We cannot let them tire us out, now is the time to remain extra vigilant and speak out against the landfill's continued operation.

As always, your support of our efforts to educate and protect the public is greatly appreciated- and now we have a special matching grant opportunity, so a donation of any amount goes twice as far!

Giving Tuesday is Tuesday, December 3rd, and we're excited to announce that we have an anonymous donor willing to match a donation of any amount up to $20,000!

Seneca Lake Guardian is working hard year round to protect our clean air, water, and thriving agri-tourist economy. On Giving Tuesday, won't you help us continue our efforts by making a donation at https://senecalakeguardian.org/Donate-to-Seneca-Lake-Guardian.

Your donation will go twice as far, giving us an extra boost to keep fighting the state's largest landfill, the polluting Greenidge power station along Seneca Lake, PFAS contamination in our waterways, and Harmful Algal Blooms.

Having trouble choosing the perfect gift? Consider a donation in honor of a friend, colleague or relative! Add instructions in the Comments field when you make your donation, and we'll notify them of your gift.

If you prefer to send a donation by mail, please make your check payable to Seneca Lake Guardian and send to:

PO Box 333

Thank you for this opportunity, and for your continued support!

Welcome to Seneca Lake Guardian

Our Lakes Need a Good Guardian

The Leadership Team of Gas Free Seneca, responsible for winning the battle against a proposed gas storage and transport hub in the Finger Lakes, has formed Seneca Lake Guardian, A Waterkeeper Alliance Affiliate, the only organization dedicated to actively working to protect the Finger Lakes from dirty industrial projects that could threaten the health of our lakes, our rural community character, the Finger Lakes Brand, or the livelihoods of the small business owners who depend on the lakes for their success. Our lakes are at risk. We need a good Guardian to protect them.

Seneca Lake Guardian is a New York State Not-for-Profit Corporation with 501(c)(3) and is dedicated to preserving and protecting the health of the Finger Lakes, its residents and visitors, its rural community character, and its agricultural and tourist related businesses through public education, citizen participation, engagement with decision makers, and networking with like-minded organizations.
