Greenidge has recently announced that it wishes to expand operations to other undisclosed locations.

Join us at the rally to stop this private Bitcoin operation from burning more fossil fuels and emitting more GHGs in a community that depends on fresh air and clean water for our personal health and for the health of our vibrant agricultural tourist economy.

Important Actions and Updates on Greenidge Bitcoin Mining Facility

The climate change alarm bells are deafening and we’re seeing the impacts almost daily across the state, country and planet. There are vital actions for you to take in the coming weeks. We need all hands on deck now, if we are to protect our region-and beyond- in the days ahead.

Important Organizational Sign On Letter

Climate Busting Cryptocurrency

We urge you to sign on to this letter urging New York to take a pause and study the impacts that proof of work cryptocurrency mining has on climate, air, water, and health before it expands across the state. If this issue is not yet on your radar, it absolutely must be now.

Many Ways to Comment with only 3 Days left!

We're getting down to the wire on the remaining days to make your voice heard. Other facilities like Greenidge will become more of the norm if the DEC renews Greenidge's Air Permit. This should not be a town by town fight. Tell the DEC to deny the Greenidge Permit today!

Only 6 Days Left to Comment to DEC on Greenidge!

We've only got 6 days left to let the DEC know where we stand on the Greenidge gas-fired Bitcoin facility. This is not just about the Finger Lakes.  Greenidge is a precedent-setting test case for this relatively new, little understood industry.  How the DEC rules on this power plant in the heart of the FLX will determine the fate of other power plants across the state.

Only 7 Days Remaining to tell NY to be on the Right Side of Climate

We Need YOU!

We have just 7 days left to tell the DEC and Governor Hochul that they must deny the Greenidge Bitcoin Mining Facility's Title V Air Permit. This precedent-setting case is drawing the attention of statewide organizations, elected officials and even national and international media because of its intensive energy use and subsequent greenhouse gas emissions.

Only a Few Days Remaining! Please get your Comments In!

It is critical that we let Governor Hochul and the DEC know that we cannot  achieve our climate goals with Greenidge and Greenidge-like facilities.  This is the extractive industry of the 21st century, and it is moving like wildfire through New York.  We  have until this Friday, November 19th to make our voices heard.

Only ten days left to voice your concerns about Greenidge Permit Renewal!

Greenidge Facility’s Air Permit Renewal

Please join us as we begin our Ten Day Countdown campaign to get as many comments to the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) on the Greenidge facility's Title V Air Permit Renewal before the November 19th deadline.

Our air. Our water. Our vote.

This fall, New Yorkers will have the historic opportunity to enshrine the right to clean air, clean water, and a healthy environment into the Bill of Rights of the New York State constitution.

PLEASE Call Governor Hochul TODAY!

Now's the time to keep that pressure going by calling Governor Hocul. Our friends at Food and Water Watch have set up a call line to do just that!

Please don’t let another day go by- send a comment and share widely! 4 Days left!

The Greenidge facility in the heart of New York is estimated to emit over 1 million tons of CO2 Equivalents into the atmosphere annually, when factoring in its on site and upstream emissions.

We must tell the DEC and Governor Hochul that we can't lead on climate change if we don't address this industry, and Greenidge is the test case.

A Dirty Waste—How Renewable Energy Policies Have Financed the Unsustainable Waste-to-Energy Industry

The end of the 20th Century saw a major shift in the United States’ approach to energy policy. After decades focused on fossil fuel production, the country began to realize that renewable sources of energy were the way of the future. Governments relied on both mandates and tax incentives to encourage the use of energy from sources like solar and wind power. Waste- to-Energy (“WTE”) power is another form of energy production that is classified as renewable. This Note summarizes the WTE pro- cess and the laws that allowed it to grow, argues that WTE is not economical- ly sound or environmentally sustainable, and proposes legislative changes to prevent more harm from WTE in the future.

Greenidge Bitcoin Mining Expansion

Greenidge Generation has been hard at work trying to discredit environmental advocates, residents, and business owners who are working to inform the public, by accusing them of spreading false information. We take these attacks on the credibility we’ve spent decades earning seriously, and we must respond to these claims, point by point, because facts matter.
