5 Days Left To Comment to DEC on Greenidge!

While Congress considers the Finger Lakes for a National Heritage Designation, an old coal-fired plant in the heart of the region has been resurrected and transitioned to burn fracked gas- not primarily to provide energy to the public- but to power thousands of machines to make virtual currency for private gain.

This facility emits greenhouse gases that exacerbate climate change, pollutants that are harmful to human health, to wildlife and to crops, and disrupts the vibrant tourism industry that relies on that clean air for its $3 Billion industry.  The Greenidge Bitcoin facility offers very few jobs, as the machines are fully automated, but it threatens the 58,000 jobs created by the wine and tourism industry.

@NYSDEC @GovKathyHochul: the Finger Lakes is a State Treasure worth preserving. Greenidge's air emissions threaten the heart of the region. Deny Greenidge's Title V Air Permit Renewal.  https://act.sierraclub.org/actions/Atlantic?actionId=AR0343602
